Honest take

Why does God say to “ deny ourselves ?” And like is it really that deep??  Why is it “wrong” to do what I “want” if  “I’m not hurting anyone?” I’m not doing “anything wrong.”  ^ These statements sound familiar?? Yeah they did for me too.  Truly denying ourselves/what our flesh tells us we want is going to be a battle. We’re called to crucify our flesh ; to lay down our life.  “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬   He never said it’s going to be easy but He’s with us and we can rest on His strength and it’s out of love that leads us to repentance so we will generally want to follow His will, above our own. “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” ‭‭ Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭25‬ ‭   Why does He say this?? It’s because our hearts are actually wicked we’re born into sin . Meaning we were born into death , that’s something we all...

Gratitude from book “Get out of your Head.”

Submission and gratitude is the only way through difficult times.  Outside of the biblical faith, humility in this sense would not usually be considered a virtue. Within the context of judeo-Christian tradition however, humility is considered the proper attitude of human beings towards the creator.  Humility is a grateful and spontaneous awareness that life is a gift and it is manifested as an ungrudging and unhypocritical acknowledgment of absolute dependence on God.  Outside of biblical faith, humility would be lunacy who wants the less power, less prestige? But within biblical faith, it is virtuous this utter dependence on God. The truth is our hearts aren’t really after power they’re after joy and the deception we buy into is that somehow Joy will come when we have power but TRUE joy comes when we lay aside our power and rest in God’s. No more looking for things to complain about now look for reasons to give thanks renewing our minds by choosing gratitude , allowing G...

Isaiah 3: 8-11  🩷🩷🩷  God Gave me a bunch verses in my mind ( I had more written, but I only felt compelled to share this one.) In this verse it's talking about a people not obeying the Lord and mocking Him.  They're in love with their sin and are very proud of it, basically laughing at the idea of needing to repent.  Since they feel absolutely no conviction about anything, at all. ..  It goes on to say "They have brought destruction on themselves."  Then He went on to talk about how the Godly will be very well off and they earned the reward they're receiving.  This just kinda hits different, it is pretty heavy. Real. Serious, God really hates sin, because it hurts His people and causes the world to be the way the world is because of the sinful nature & our free will, but our free will is a sign of Gods grace, true loving kindness and sincerity of character, God wants our hearts If there was no free will, we would all be like robots,...

A poem to a picture

The moment everything started to begin,  it was heavy and I wasn’t sure where I was headed  but I knew the one who was in control  of the waves of the sea  All my life I had fought against who I knew I was supposed to be  Yet I ran away out of fear, opinions, rejection & crippling anxiety  On the darkest night, when I couldn’t breathe I encountered a light that made the darkness flee  I was drowning, thinking what is the point of anything,  Yet through all my brokenness  ignited a hope that changed the course of my entire life, - eternally I didn’t know it yet, but it helped me keep going.  I look back to this & think Why did I ever run?  Why did I ever wait?  Why did I fight against true love Did I believe in freedom ?  Could I really be set free from all of my burdens & chains?  How did I not know?  How could I not see?  The constant pure & holy pursuing love that always was fighting for me...
