Honest take
Why does God say to “ deny ourselves ?” And like is it really that deep?? Why is it “wrong” to do what I “want” if “I’m not hurting anyone?” I’m not doing “anything wrong.” ^ These statements sound familiar?? Yeah they did for me too. Truly denying ourselves/what our flesh tells us we want is going to be a battle. We’re called to crucify our flesh ; to lay down our life. “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:24 He never said it’s going to be easy but He’s with us and we can rest on His strength and it’s out of love that leads us to repentance so we will generally want to follow His will, above our own. “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” Matthew 16:25 Why does He say this??
